Blue Ribbon Urban Agriculture Competition
Long Beach Fresh seeks Urban Agriculture-focused entries for a blue ribbon locally grown produce competition!
Entries are now open, with six initial categories. Entrants may use the form below, or simply bring their entries the day-of the event.
Judging occurs during the Long Beach County Fair at the EXPO Building, 4321 Atlantic Avenue at 7-8pm; entries must be brought in by 6:30pm.
A panel of judges, headed by NEAJ Food and Culture critic of the year Sarah Bennett, local farmers Sasha Kanno and Rod Dodd, and culinary genius Gina Ruccione (Master Chef) will evaluate entries based on: Look and feel, taste and smell, rarity and size.
Judges will award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place ribbons in each category, and one Best of Show!
And yes, you get an actual fancy ribbon!
Growers may sign up using the form below to guarantee a spot, or simply show up the day-of with their entry. It’s free to participate!
Urban Agriculture Photography Exhibit
Bixby Knolls BIA is sponsoring a photography exhibit of local farms and gardens – send your best photo, whether it’s a closeup or the whole urban farm, in high resolution (2mb minimum). The exhibit is open to amateur and professional photographers. Entries chosen will be notified the week of the event, and displayed in large print on the walls of the Expo’s North room during the event. (PHOTO SUBMISSION IS NOW CLOSED)
