Last night, Feeders gathered for a lively discussion about getting better, more local food to restaurants and other commercial kitchens around the city.
We went through a tour of facts gathered from Fresh Food Distribution Models for Greater Los Angeles and the LA Food Policy Council’s 2013 Food System Snapshot.
The group focused on a few very specific solutions for improving distribution now:
- Create a Wholesale index of Local Providers
- Create a hyper-local “produce hotline” for Seeders-Feeders to exchange real-time produce info
- Promote the Tuesday morning Farmer’s Market as a “Chef’s Market“
