UPDATE: This lot is under development as a veteran-operated urban farm, set to dig in March 2019!
When realtor and landowner Eric Adrian reached out to us, he was excited to hear of the city’s plans to implement urban agriculture incentive zones – after all, his lot on the 2800 block of Santa Fe ave has been vacant for more than 25 years. Now, it could become a vibrant urban farm or community garden!
A crossing point for students and families, it’s lacked interest from business developers but holds great potential to be a community hub. As the tragic death of Cabrillo High School student Keshawn Brooks on that corner still lingers in the community’s hearts and minds, we see this request for proposals as a golden opportunity to heal the community with healthy food and positivity.
All applications will be considered; however, those that can show a feasible budget, plan, and timeline, as well as maximize community benefit, may be more competitive.
